CTM Outlander has acquired Dutch independent music publisher, Strengholt Music Group, marking the latest in its string of acquisitions.
Strengholt Music is part of the European entertainment company, Strengholt B.V., which traces its roots back to 1928. Previously known as Warner Basart Music Publishers, Strengholt Music holds a global presence.
CTM said in an announcement on Friday (July 28) that the target company played a key role in shaping the landscape of the Dutch music entertainment business.
Strengholt Music describes itself as a “full-service music company” that helps artists, songwriters and composers get the most out of their copyrighted work.
Additionally, the company also offers artists with marketing strategies, career planning, forecasting, social media engagement, and handles negotiations and finalizes deals concerning master and artist agreements, licensing arrangements, and recording contracts.
Its catalog features over 100 No. 1 hits from artists such as Boudewijn de Groot, Lennaert Nijgh, Ramses Shaffy, Pierre Kartner, Hans van Hemert, Ferry Corsten, Radboud Miedema, John Ewbank, Eric van Tijn, and Jochem Fluitsma.
‘Engelbewaarder’ by Marco Schuitmaker, a song penned four decades ago, currently sits at the number one spot in the Netherlands.
The catalog boasts worldwide hits like ‘Venus’ by Shocking Blue and Bananarama, ‘Eviva España’ by Imca Marina, ‘I Remember Elvis Presley’ by Danny Mirror, ‘How Do You Do’ by Mouth & MacNeal, ‘The Launch’ by DJ Jean, ‘You’re the Greatest Lover’ by Luv, ‘Elephant Song’ by Kamahl, and ‘Reality’ by Lost Frequencies & Janieck.
The masters catalog also includes works from the Basart Records label, featuring artists like Anita Meyer and Conny Vandenbos, and later on the Dureco label, with hits from Corry Konings, The Smurfs, Vader Abraham, MC Miker G & Deejay Sven, De Dijk, Ben Cramer, and many more.
Notably, the transaction with CTM Outlander does not encompass the management and music rights activities of Purple Eye Publishing and Purple Eye Entertainment, which will continue to operate as separate entities.
CTM Outlander is a collaborative effort between Outlander Capital, headquartered in Dallas, Texas and helmed by Les Ware and Mike McKool, and the Netherlands-based independent music entertainment company CTM, led by industry veteran André de Raaff.
The company, which buys publishing and master rights, launched in April 2021 with $1 billion allocated for acquisitions.
Its most recent transactions include the acquisition of songs from Grammy Award-winning UK-based songwriter and producer, Fraser T Smith, last week, the catalog of Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer Shane McAnally and other works of SMACKSongs’ Matt McGinn, Josh Osborne, Matthew Ramsey and Trevor Rosen in June.
